The Marketing Department is crucial in promoting an organisation’s
business and mission, acting as the company’s face and coordinating materials.
Its duties include reaching out to prospects, customers, investors, and the
community, while creating a positive image of the company.
According to the Hard Ford (2023), depending on the company type, sector and company size, the duties of the Marketing Department may include one or more of the following:
1. Defining and Managing the Brand: In here the
department has to define identity, stand for, and company actions to create a
positive customer and partner experience
2. Conducting Campaigns to Manage Activities: Marketing
strategically targets products and services throughout the sales cycle,
producing materials and communications to effectively communicate the message
3. Marketing Helps to Increase Sales: Marketing plays a crucial role in consumer education, helping customers understand the benefits of purchasing a product and the advantages of it. This information leads to increased sales and revenue opportunities for businesses (Divya Dubey, 2022).
4. Producing Marketing and Promotional Materials: Create
the materials that describe and promote company’s core products and/or
services. They should be kept up to date as those products and services evolve
5. Creating Content Providing Search Engine Optimization: Organisation’s website is crucial for gaining information about the business, and marketing department should maintain it's content and ensure it appears quickly when someone searches for your type of business (The Hard Ford, 2023)
6. Gathering Customer Data: Understanding consumers and their target audience is crucial for achieving company goals. Grouping consumers by age, gender, career, location, and lifestyle, conducting surveys, and analyzing demand curves can help determine product relationships(Indeed, 2023).
7. Analyze Current Market Trends: Further, analyzing market trends is essential for managing demand and competition, and monitoring trends helps understand target audience needs. Regularly reviewing news articles and increasing social media presence can help stay updated (Indeed, 2023).
